You have a great gallery and great taste, a lot of my favourite people here drawn and painted so well. Bottom is my all time favourite though. Thank you for the faves, I really appreciate it.     CheersWoohooooo!        Les

Thank you, I take great pride in my taste in people. Bottom seems to have become my favourite to, it just happens I can't help it but it might actually be my favourite TV show. That from me id quite a compliment because I am also an intense watcher of Sherlock, Doctor Who and Hannibal not to say everything that has been produced in Britain under the name on comedy, TV is very important to me and Bottom just infiltrates my heart in unexplainable ways.

We have made some great comedies (some rubbish too though) and looking at your work you cover a lot of my favourites, obviously all Rik and Ades stuff, monty python, Black adder, father ted, IT crowd. I'm going to stop now cos their is quite a few. Your work is really good though and it will be a pleasure returning to your gallery often, it will always make me smile. Woohooooo!

That is so nice to hear! I'm appreciated :') For curiosity's sake have you an example of a rubbish comedy? Personally there is some stuff I can't seem to find funny no matter how hard I try, as an example David Walliams (+Matt) never seem to hit the mark for me, he is funny in person, but his sketches rarely make me laugh ...

Now you have asked me to think of rubbish comedies I am struggling. Probably because you remember the ones you like but forget all the other crap. I will get back to you with that. I'm not that keen on a lot of U.S. sitcoms except Big Bang. I don't mind the little Britain guys but they are far from one of my favourites. We should keep our conversation to this post in future because we seem to be having 2 chats at the moment. Anyhow as always its a pleasure to talk to you and I will have a think about what you asked. Woohooooo!   Les

To continue both conversations here, this is what he tweeted the day before I went to see him ... "Dangerous discovery - it appears I CAN do the show after 6 pints. Shame only 3 shows left..." Poor Rik whit his forgetting of liner though cant be easy to keep it up after the quad bike accident, mind you he wasn't much better before it, but at least he didn't have to struggle with epilepsy.

Little Britain is OK, just a tad repetitive for my taste. Like you I don't much mind american comedy it's so bright and shiny and obvious ... and nobody seems human. I'm not a Big fan of The Big Bang Theory, it's ok I like the nerdy references but its not a show written by actual nerds and you can feel that. I prefer How I Met Your Mother and there is a show called Wilfred that isn't too bad though not strictly speaking a sitcom more in-between genres. Some British comedys are just genuinely terrible though, have you seen "Heil Honey I'm home" there is only one episode, it was cancelled du to being not just offensive but offensively bad. It of horrible but I still laugh because it just failed to such an hilarious degree. I don't know it they did that knowingly or not though ...

Sorry for the delay in responding I've been very busy with work.   Heil Honey I'm home is one that I have never heard of. It sounds like its just as well that it failed. A lot of the older British comedies were truly awful and included blatant racism and sexism. Not just the comedies either. We sadly were the country that produced things like The black and white minstrel show and It ain't half hot mum. You will be much too young to have seen them but if you get the chance youtube them and you will see what I mean. I think over the last few years things have improved drastically.(Thank God)         Its a real pleasure meeting someone with such good taste in comedy. Keep smiling. RIP RIK.  Cheers Woohooooo! Les

I have hears some horror stories from racist 70's sitcoms ... there was some trash in the 90's as well when we got the counter movements to the politically correct alternative comedy of the eighties, but that stuff tends to be more self aware and not as tasteless. Hail Honey I'm home is naturally terrible, but it isn't unintentional, and that makes a difference I think. I think I've heard some crass comments about the black and white minstrel show, Rik comes to mind ... has he ever poked fun at it? I might be misremembering cause I can't find anything about it.
